Forecasting previously relied on clear-sky observations, due to challenges in diagnosing the complex physical processes within clouds, the scientists said. The all-sky method, developed by Penn State’s Center for Advanced Data Assimilation and Predictability Techniques, can assimilate data from all weather conditions, including cloudy and rainy skies. Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite, GOES-16, to predict severe thunderstorms through the all-sky radiance method. The researchers were previously the first to use data from the new U.S. “While these results need to be evaluated across a large spectrum of cases, they point to a path forward that could extend lead times for severe weather events, thereby providing improved information to the public when severe weather strikes.” “Our results suggest that each sensor provides unique information about the storm,” said David Stensrud, head of the Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science at Penn State. The best results came from combining infrared brightness temperature observations from satellites, and radial wind velocity observations from radar, the scientists reported in the American Meteorological Society journal Monthly Weather Review. The scientists assimilated satellite and radar data separately and simultaneously to see which combination could best recreate conditions during a large storm system that struck Wyoming and Nebraska in 2017. We found, for at least one severe weather event, assimilating satellite and radar simultaneously leads to the best forecasts.”ĭata assimilation is a statistical method used to paint the most accurate possible picture of current weather conditions, important because even small changes in the atmosphere can lead to large discrepancies in forecasts over time. “The question was whether these two types of observations would complement each other if combined together. “We know satellites have an advantage in producing forecasts earlier, and radar has more confidence in where clouds should be and where thunderstorms will be moving,” said Yunji Zhang, assistant research professor in meteorology and atmospheric sciences at Penn State. Combing data from cutting-edge geostationary satellites and traditional weather radar created a path toward earlier, more accurate warnings, according to Penn State researchers who studied supercell thuderstorms in the Midwest. Every minute counts when it comes to predicting severe weather.

Elemental weapons often do the least damage, but add the elemental aspect to be used against specific enemies once you're knowledgable enough to know their exact weaknesses, but aren't really supposed to be used long term or in every situation. Weapons with high base damage are meant to be used in low lvl, early runs, while weapons with high scaling being useful for your end game characters that you plan on pushing through NG+(and I believe every weapon type has at least 1 S rank scaled weapon, including pistols). Every weapon has it's purpose, it's just many people wish every weapon was ez mode high base damage infinite scaling when the weapons in this are no different from dark souls. I thought about trying to get the Dex/Magic katana but I have 0 points in Magic so that seemed pointless.Guns certainly do not become unuseful in NG+. So it's more suited to battles where you hit once and dodge. the weapon does a lot of damage but it's slow - often you can't get 2 strikes in. It took a bunch of levels to be able to use it (level 5 I think). No thanks.įinally, end game, I transmuted a Headsman's Voulge because it sounded amazing and had great stats. On a whim, I transmuted a Kraeken Longswong and hated it. Honestly, it was hard to tell the difference. It swings very much like the Taichi but is class 3 and has a slightly higher damage output. Late in the game I transmuted a Lowlander's Greatknife. You can transmute a Taichi but I found mine in the Red Hall near the room with dual swordsmen.Īs I mentioned, Taichi served me well. So fast! So little stamina drain! Such brutality! A level 4 Taichi with the fire charm attached butchered most enemies and bosses. After that battle I switched to the Taichi and played ninja/katana nearly the rest of the game. I'd often proc poison and then switch to the spear. The poison didn't feel as powerful as the Woodwraith consumable, and the damage output felt low. I had a blast running around the early game with an upgraded dagger and a soldier's spear for the occasional reach. Marksman was the best improvement to my Quality-of-Life in this game. Buy some blessed pages and some shot and go be a boss.Īnd maybe you're worried about not putting every single point into your precious greatsword progression. No sense in carrying around gold anyway as you'll lose some of it every time you die. Buy 30+ shots after you kill a boss and top off when you can. You may be worrying about paying for shot but I found it's a non-issue. I've read you can also buy one from the Iron Merchant if you upgrade your devotion.) (For those who don't know where to find one, I believe you get a Flintlock pistol in the Dome. Really anything that hovers about is 10x easier to deal with if you have a gun. I've yet to find anything more satisfying than leaping up and boomstickin' the flying enemies. I had a bow but couldn't do any significant damage with it. In fact, most all flying baddies were real irritations. Dealing with the hanging men (the guys who snatch you from across the map) was such a nightmare. My first playthrough I played a Dex based sword-fighter with no magic. I have no idea if casting is anything like this, but either way I'm 7 hours in and still realizing how deep this game actually is and how so many cool mechanics are "hidden." If you're not playing a caster and you haven't picked up a ranged skill yet (or even if you have) Marksman is well worth trying out. ALSO to my surprise I've actually been able to parry enemies if the shot is timed right. you don't have to buy "lightning rounds"). Also the bullets take on whatever extra damage type you apply to your main weapon (i.e. Freezing midair to line up shots is such a cool game mechanic that I didn't expect, especially when the result is a satisfying shotgun blast that can take out 3 enemies at a time. Turns out pistols and their transmutations are amazing. I started out as a Knight mostly putting points into the branches for swords and shields, but I've been a huge Bloodborne fan relative to Dark Souls, so I figured, why not try out pistols? As the skill tree is enormous and most people are still figuring out what skills/builds/weapons they find fun, I have to say Marksman was hands-down the best investment I've made. purchase one and put your name on it in permanent marker, take with you in your bag or wallet and pull out when you get offered a sticker tag at meetings, workshops or events. The third title in the series perfected the recipe, adding a “takedown” feature that encouraged players to smash rivals from the circuit. Taking place through traffic-packed city streets, the races rewarded players for risky manoeuvres, providing extra time to shoot past competitors. Guildford-based developer Criterion built its Burnout series of arcade driving games around two principles: speed and style. “Football, but with remote control cars” is a likely pitch for Rocket League, but who expected it would become one of the most skilful and enduring multiplayer games released in decades? Rocket League is elegant and ageless: it will probably still be played in 20 years, in living rooms and in tournaments. It’s an accessible, multifaceted racing treat. Barn finds and destructible signs rewarded exploration, while a multitude of driving challenges provided structure and challenge. Boasting a gigantic selection of cars and an inventive AI-assisted multiplayer component, the game was designed around simply letting the player have fun, no matter what they did or where they drove. Photograph: MicrosoftĬombining an open-world structure with the energy of a music festival, Forza Horizon made arcade-style racing games fun again. But what about the mother and young child using a fake passport to rejoin the rest of their family? Or an undocumented refugee who you could reject as a possible terrorist, but who may in fact be a desperate civilian? You are a border officer in a war-torn country where people are constantly trying to smuggle things past you: drugs, weapons, falsified IDs. One of several games that kicked off the indie-game renaissance of the 2010s, Limbo’s monochrome style and relatively short running time belie the extraordinary effort and fastidiousness that went into its creation, evident in everything from the sinister movements of a giant spider to the precise physics that power its puzzles. Model location is also not transferred in the export. Additional alterations made to textures, such as transparency, stain or tint are not carried over, as these features are not built-in to SketchUp. The model is always exported with textures, and can be changed to shaded, hidden line or wireframe using the view styles in SketchUp. Plugin Details: Single ($99) or floating license ($299) available.Īfter installation, the plugin is available in the add-ins menu inside Revit.ĭetail level of the model is controlled by the setting in the 3D view (course, medium & fine). Method 1 – Revit Plugin: SimLab SKP Exporter The section box should be used to exclude any part of the building or topography that you don’t want. If there are model components (topo contours) or overlays (DWG files) that you don’t want in the SketchUp file, turn them off before exporting. Tip:You must be in a 3D view to export with either method. Software Required: Revit, SketchUp Pro, SimLab SKP Exporter (Revit Plugin), RVT2SKP (Revit Plugin) Two case studies are used to demonstrate the capability of both methods, and a comparison of geometry complexity and file size are included at the end of this tutorial. Exporting to DWG retains maximum editability while no materials are preserved. Using the plugin, the model retains it’s original materials, but editability is sacrificed. The first is by using a plugin, and the second is by exporting to a DWG file, then importing into SketchUp. There are two methods for transferring a model.
Like New England, Cleveland wants to run the football and will do so early and often. Pass protection will be vital in this matchup. He'll need to find his wideouts more often while continuing to use Hunter Henry in the red zone. Mac Jones and the Patriots passing game has been a tad inconsistent as of late, but the rookie might need to carry more of the load against the Browns. Green and Greedy Williams, who left the Bengals game with a shoulder injury. Safeties John Johnson and Ronnie Harrison have played well and are supported by Troy Hill, Grant Delpit, A.J. Ward missed the Pittsburgh game two weeks ago but returned against Cincinnati and allowed just one completion on the day while returning an interception 99 yards for a touchdown. The coverage has been solidified by the strong play of Denzel Ward and rookie Greg Newsome. He's supported by Jadeveon Clowney, who has 3.5, as well as an aggressive mindset that often sees blitzes from a variety of players in the secondary. Myles Garrett is a Defensive Player of the Year candidate with an NFL-best 12 sacks. Those numbers have been created by a combination of factors that includes both strong coverage and an even better pass rush. Cleveland is ninth in the league, allowing 224.9 yards per game, and 10th with just 6.6 yards per pass play. The Browns aren't much easier to throw against, particularly when they are healthy and that appears to be the case at the moment. Regardless, rushing yards will be tough to come by against one of the more aggressive and physical fronts the Patriots have seen this season. Taylor, who has been a healthy scratch the past two weeks. The Patriots will need to get at least one of Harris and Stevenson back in the fold, or they will have to rely on Bolden and J.J. Walker leads the team with 57 tackles, including 14 in a dominant win over the Bengals on Sunday. Cleveland boasts a strong front, especially in the middle where Malik Jackson and Malik McDowell do a great job of keeping middle linebacker Anthony Walker free to make plays. It's also not good considering the physical nature of the Browns defense, which ranks third in the league allowing 84.8 yards per game on the ground and second with 3.5 per carry. That's not good news with the Browns coming to town for an important AFC matchup with playoff implications on the line. Harris and Stevenson left the win over Carolina with head injuries and neither returned. While that mindset has allowed the team to embark on its three-game winning streak, it also has left the ranks a bit banged up. Jones suffered his ankle injury on New England's last offensive play of Week 3's loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The Patriots continue to show their identity with a punishing ground game that features lots of work for Damien Harris, Rhamondre Stevenson and Brandon Bolden. Jones struggled through New England's first four games of the season, throwing just two touchdowns to five interceptions as the Patriots got off to a 1-2 start. In his first career start, Zappe completed 17 of his 21 passes for 188 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in New England's 29-0 win over the Lions. The Zappe Hour is a great story but might not last long." "He has progressed and even made last week's decision to go with Bailey Zappe interesting," Fowler wrote Wednesday. But Jones made enough progress throughout the week that the Patriots considered starting him. Jones nearly returned last Sunday when the Patriots hosted the Detroit Lions, but rookie Bailey Zappe ultimately got the start - the first of his career. Jones, who has missed the last two weeks with an ankle injury, has a "decent chance" to play on Sunday, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. FOXBORO - Zappe Fever is gripping New England, but Mac Jones may be back at quarterback this weekend when the Patriots visit the Cleveland Browns. Under this “artist-centric” model, if an artist qualifies as a “professional artist,” one stream would get “boosted” to count as two plays and if a user actively searches for or clicks on an artist’s song, that stream would get “boosted” to count as two plays. Here’s how it works: Under the “old” pro-rata model - or the one still in effect at every major streaming service - one stream equals one play, and the total number of plays is divided up by artists and labels according to how many they accrue. UMG and Deezer Outline New Streaming Model to Cut Through Noise 1 in France for UMG artists with plans to expand it to more content owners and additional territories, relies on a “boost” model that rewards artists who are actively searched for by users, as well as those who maintain a level of 1,000 streams per month from at least 500 unique accounts - what Deezer/UMG are terming “professional artists.” And it has generated plenty of scrutiny from many corners of the industry, despite its initial limited scope. The artist-centric model, which Deezer says will begin rolling out Oct. They aim to identify a new way of paying out that revenue, at a time when streaming service catalogs have exploded to north of 200 million tracks and fraud and streaming manipulation have proliferated on platforms. Last week, French music streaming service Deezer joined with the Universal Music Group to roll out what they called an artist-centric music streaming model, which they said was “designed to better reward the artists and the music that fans value the most.” It’s the result of a six-month partnership announced in March that promised to examine the current “pro-rata” streaming royalties model, in which artists and labels are paid according to their share of streams out of the available pool of revenue generated by streaming services. Hence, you may end up using one either because you got into Aviation School or because you didn’t □! (See what I did there?). None more so than Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, which by the way has frequently been described as the ' best-looking game on the Planet’.įlight Simulators are often used for pilot training or recreation/gaming. Slowly but steadily, they have wriggled ever-so-close to reality. Over years, simulator games have improved drastically owing to technological innovations. But before we begin… What is a Flight Simulator?įlight simulators are virtual reality systems that enable you to experience the sensation of flight first-hand, consequently satisfying your desire for flying adventures. Hence, we list down the best Flight Simulator Chairs and Cockpits available in the market today. And while some people may consider it an inessential luxury, I say that you literally owe it to the pilot in you! You have done so far, you deserve it. You bought very carefully, an expensive flight simulator, and then you went all out to buy the best PC to support the game. Instead, find a friend to help you, otherwise it will take you about 10 minutes and a lot of patience to get the cover zipped all the way closed. If you’re trying to do it on your own, as I did, good luck. The difficulty arises when you have to fit the Moon Pod inside the cover. You simply unwrap the bean bag from its clear plastic bag, and then unwrap the bean bag’s cover, which is folded separately in a different plastic bag. If you do, you run the risk of slicing open the Moon Pod’s sac and ruining the bean bag chair.Īs for assembly: It’s easy until the end. When opening the box, do not, I repeat, do not use a blade or other sharp object on the packaging tape. When the Moon Pod arrived, I was not home and the delivery driver didn’t bring the huge, rectangular box all the way to my front steps-I’m not sure why, because although it was bulky, it was extremely light and easy to carry. Consequently, my driveway is really long. I live in a house that’s set about 25 yards back from a busy street. The Moon Pod contains proprietary high-density, high-friction EPS filler beads and a dual sac construction to give it that weightless sensation while sitting in it. Most bean bag chairs contain beads made of expanded polystyrene (EPS). The Moon Pod adapts into three positions: sit (for working), recline (for relaxing), lay down (for sleeping). He also contends that its supportive structure responds to any body shape and movement, offering unparalleled reinforcement and adaptive flexibility, so much so that it can help relieve back and neck pain while you rest. He’s made millions of dollars investing in and inventing products that focus on supporting customers mentally and physically.įiorentino advertises, “you don’t sink, you float,” claiming that the Moon Pod mimics the sensations of flotation therapy, which is known to reduce stress and anxiety. The American brand’s founder, entrepreneur John Fiorentino is also behind Kickstarter sensation Gravity Blanket, which tops Reviewed’s list of the best weighted blankets. You may have seen it on Kickstarter in 2018, or, more recently, as an ad in your Instagram feed. Moon Pod is a zero-gravity bean bag chair that weighs 12 pounds and measures 4 sq.
